Application outsourcing has been defined as a multiyear contract and relationship involving the purchase of ongoing application services from an ESP (External Service Provider). The ESP supplies the manpower, processes, tools and methodologies for managing, enhancing, maintaining, and supporting custom and packaged software applications, including network-delivered applications. In addition to application management, application outsourcing includes services specifically delivered to a long-term contract in support of the life cycle of applications, such as application development, integration, deployment and support services, as well as consulting and advisory services.
